The vision

An aviation club restored to what it was always meant to be — a brotherhood of pilots, a fleet worth flying, and a place to call home at the field.

I · Selectivity

Twenty-two members. No more.

Membership is by application and reference. We are not building a rental operation — we are assembling a community of pilots who share our standards, our respect for the aircraft, and our love of the discipline.

II · The aircraft

Maintained beyond regulation.

Both airplanes are equipped with modern glass panels, refreshed interiors, and held to a standard you would expect from a private aircraft you own yourself — because, in every meaningful sense, you do.

III · The freedom

The pleasure of flight, without the burden.

Insurance, inspections, mechanic relationships, hangar logistics, reserves for the next overhaul — none of these belong to you. Members fly. Everything else is handled with discretion and care.

IV · The fellowship

Pilots worth flying with.

Member-organized flyouts, formal dinners at the hangar, mentorship for ratings, group expeditions across the Great Lakes. The aviation culture that has quietly disappeared from most fields — preserved here.

The finest moments in aviation are not solitary — they are shared with pilots who understand what brought you to the field in the first place.

Piper Cherokee Six

Six seats. True range. The aircraft of consequential flying.

A weekend at Mackinac. A long journey across the Great Lakes. Four passengers and their belongings, unhurried. Not available at any rental counter in the region — this is a club aircraft in every sense of the term.

Cessna 172

The discipline of regular flight, in an aircraft kept above standard.

For the morning flight before the weather rolls in. For introducing a son or daughter to aviation. For the Saturday breakfast across the lake. The most trusted airframe in general aviation, refined and modernized.

The path forward

Built deliberately. Grown thoughtfully.

Year One

Found the club.

Two aircraft. Twenty-two members. Establish the standard for everything that follows. Build the culture before we build anything else.

Year Two

Introduce a third aircraft.

The Cessna 182 joins the fleet by member vote, expanding the range of what's possible while maintaining the quality of what already exists.

Long View

A proper clubhouse.

A dedicated hangar at 8D4 with a member lounge above, overlooking the field. A place to gather, plan, and finish the day after the flying is done.

Request for Consideration

Tell us about yourself.

Membership is offered selectively. The questions that follow help us understand who you are as a pilot — and help us shape a club worthy of you.

All responses are read personally. A response does not commit you to anything.

A note on the figures presented: The structure and pricing shown here are working assumptions. Final details — dues, hourly rates, initiation — will be determined after consultation with prospective founding members. Please answer candidly. Your input shapes what we become.

I · The Pilot

About you, as a pilot.

Help us understand where you are in your aviation life so we may interpret your answers properly.

An honest answer here matters more than any other in this survey.
II · The Standard

What you value in an aircraft.

Pilots disagree about much. They tend to agree about what a well-kept airplane feels like.

III · The Membership

The terms of membership.

A single tier, simply expressed. We have considered the alternatives at length — what follows is, we believe, both fair and sustainable.

A reminder: The figures below are working assumptions. They reflect our current thinking on what creates a sustainable, well-maintained club. Final structure will be determined together with our founding members.
Standard Membership
The Club Member
$550 / month

Full access to both aircraft. A four-hour monthly minimum applies — any hours unused are banked and carry forward indefinitely. You never lose what you have paid for.

$110 per hour wet · Cessna 172
$195 per hour wet · Cherokee Six
Full member voting rights · Access to all events
Optional · Available to all members
Spouse Membership
Additional $250 / month

Extends full flying privileges to a spouse who holds the appropriate certificates. Two pilots, one household, one membership — at a meaningful saving.

Founding members — the first ten — pay $2,500. Members thereafter pay $3,500.
IV · Practical Matters

How you would actually use the club.

We are sizing the club for real flying — not aspirational flying. Honest answers serve everyone.

Founding Membership — limited to the first ten.

Founding Members establish the culture, the standards, and the early direction of the club. They pay $2,500 in initiation (rather than the standard $3,500), hold locked rates for twenty-four months, and have voice on every consequential decision through launch and beyond. A refundable $500 deposit reserves a place.
